Sorry for the long delay. I've lost my home internet connection and been busy with my day job but things are still very much alive here at Metronomic Underground. A couple of my remixes are up on YouTube, check them out!

Solid Sounds

Sorry for the delay in new posts but I've been enjoying Wilco's Solid Sound music festival in North Adams MA this weekend. So many great performances: Wilco, Neko Case, The Dream Syndicate, Yo La Tengo, great comedy from John Hodgeman, Al Madrigal and Reggie Watts, plus a ton of others. I'll post some pics, videos and live reviews later. I'll be posting new tracks from SoundCloud shortly.

Brand Spankin' New Remixes

As promised I've posted four brand new remixes on SoundCloud today. A remix of "Weighted Down" by Skip Spence as covered by Beck and Fiest for Beck's Record Club cover album of Oar in it's entirety. A remix of Built To Spill's cover of Daniel Johnston's "Somethings Last A Long Time" from their early singles/rarities/B-Sides compilation The Normal Years. A remix of Martha & the Muffins' "Boys In The Bushes" from their 1983 album Danseparc. These remixes were recorded a while ago but I can't post them on Legitmix because the original tracks aren't available on the iTunes US store, however they can and are now posted on SoundCloud. Plus one awesome very new recording, a remix of Bibio's "A Tout A L'heure" from his new album from 2013 Silver Wilkinson. These will all be posted here soon and "A Tout A L'heure" will be posted on Legitmix. I recorded a few more new things yesterday which seem worthy of posting. Poppin' Fresh! Stay tuned.

Switched On! Soundcloud & Upcoming Releases

Working on lots of stuff this week. I have uploaded a bunch of tracks already available on Legitmix.com to SoundCloud. They are available there to stream for free and I'll be uploading the other tracks there soon as well. It seems I will not be able to post all of the same tracks from Legitmix as they have different policies regarding posting remixes.

This site will host all of tracks I post on Legitmix, SoundCloud and any other sites I post to (I have a few others in mind). It will host news of upcoming releases, where and when they will be available, a complete list my available remixes, my personal music reviews, favorite music videos, things of interest, etc.

Video: Soda Stereo - Texturas (Live 2007)

So you probably wouldn't guess that I'm a Soda Stereo fan based on the remixes I've posted here so far but, as it turns out, I am. In an endless quest track down every obscure vintage shoegaze masterpiece I found Soda Stereo's staggering, surprising, and endlessly enjoyable Dynamo from 1992. This album effortlessly combines the most beguiling and entrancing elements of dreampop/shoegaze with Soda Stereo's existing mastery of post-punk guitar rock. For me this album represents a unique musical culture intersection, the tracks weave genre tropes together to form a tapestries yet each one is distinct and vibrant. "Texturas" is a bombastic shoegaze/pop song that closes the album. True to it's shogazy title, the track radiates clouds of guitar vapor, and the cherry on top is the wonderfully detached vocal harmonies that float languidly through the miasma. This performance is from their recent well received reunion tour in 2007. More Soda Stereo and other great videos to come. Enjoy!

I am beyond elated to finally have a legal way to post my remixes. This website Legitmix.com while still in it's beta phase allows artists who use copyright protected music, to post and even sell their work online. I have posted 10 songs on Legitmix under the moniker Escalator Music. They are all free to listen to right now. Even if you don't own the original version required you can stream the previews for free as much as you like. Let me make this clear, I am charging nothing for these, I just want to share them.
